The exact resolution, aspect ratio, file size, and content-policy rules Epic Games enforces for Fortnite/UEFN map thumbnails — get any of these wrong and Epic can reject or remove your thumbnail before it ever reaches Discovery.

Anything below 1920×1080 or off-ratio can get cropped or rejected by the upload flow. There's no documented minimum file size — optimize for clarity, not just meeting the ceiling.
Content policy — what gets a thumbnail rejected
Independent of resolution, Epic's thumbnail content policy prohibits:
- Realistic violence, gore, blood (realistic or unrealistic), or crude/sexualized depictions
- Imagery designed to create threat, dread, or terror
- Targeted gunfire, crosshairs on faces/heads, or guns pointed at the viewer
- Currency imagery (V-Bucks or real-world equivalents), XP/leveling references, "AFK," "coin farm," or coin imagery
- Platform-specific control graphics (buttons, controller icons)
- Misleading depictions — showing assets or features not actually present in your island
- Duplicate thumbnails reused across multiple copies of the same island
- Epic Games logos, key art, or recreated proprietary assets
- Photographs of real people
- Thumbnails copied or duplicated from other developers
